Successful Test Firing of the Barak Anti-Missile System

IDF 26/7/09 – The Israel Navy has successfully tested the new Barak anti-missile system

A successful test firing of the Barak anti-missile system, conducted by the Israel Navy, took place this week. During the test, a Barak missile was launched from the IN ship Lahav, a Saar 5 type corvette, against a target simulating an enemy missile, and successfully hit its intended target. The new Israeli Barak is an improved version of the missile, which includes upgrades to its rocket interception capabilities.

During the test firing, the abilities of the missile were tested according to its development by the Israel Navy, RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. and the Israel Aerospace Industries. The Barak system is one of the most advanced of its kind worldwide.

The Israel Navy is improving and modernizing its battle systems in order to increase its abilities in light of the security challenges facing Israel.

Vanderbilt Aerospace Club – Competition UAV Maiden Flight

Posted by admin on July 31st, 2009 and filed under aerospace landing gear | No Comments »

This is the maiden flight of the Vanderbilt Aerospace Club’s Competition UAV. The aircraft has a 58″-wingspan, and is designed to fit in a 10″-diameter rocket that stands 16′-tall. For flight testing, the aircraft has bolt-on landing gear; it lands on its belly in the grass after the rocket launch. At the end of the flight, the landing gear popped off, but the aircraft sustained no damage and flew great overall. Test pilot is Randy Moore. More information on the project can be found at the club website:

frome aerospace engineering should i be in a different study area?

Posted by admin on July 30th, 2009 and filed under helicopter aerospace | 1 Comment »

i love the idea of flying and making something lift above ground but planes and helicopters will be replaced be saucers that work with magnetics. cheaper and more efficient. where should one be to be a part of this development and drastic change to be involved. is it still considered aerospace?

It is indeed still aerospace. And the sooner you can get it working the better.

Aerospace means anything that flies above the earth and into space. The means of propulsion and lift are not important.

Do I need an airframe and power plant, (A&P) license to become an aerospace engineer technician for NASA.?

Posted by admin on July 30th, 2009 and filed under aerospace nasa | 1 Comment »

If not, would that be a big help on my resume. I already have training in the Air Force as an aerospace propulsion technician apprentice, working on the C-17 Globemaster; do you think that will be of any help as well?
